OpenStreetMap Nominatim
nominatim.openstreetmap.org
The OpenStreetMap Foundation's public Nominatim geocoder: forward geocoding of place names and addresses, reverse geocoding of coordinates, lookup by OSM node/way/relation id, and administrative hierarchy details.
The crw MCP on your computer calls OpenStreetMap Nominatim directly. Calls cost no credits and the data does not pass through fastCRW. Install it once for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI or OpenCode, with your fastCRW API key in place of the placeholder:
Ask with this source
A prompt for your agent that names this source and how to call it through the crw MCP.
Place details and hierarchy
Use OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim) from fastCRW Pergamon, capability "Place details and hierarchy" (details). You have an OSM object id and need its address hierarchy and parent administrative areas. Example options: osmtype=R, osmid=146656, class=boundary. Use the crw MCP tools: crw_find_data to confirm the source and its options, then crw_get_data with provider "nominatim" and capability "details". Tell me the credits used and cite the licence from the response. If the crw MCP tools are missing, install them with: npx -y crw-mcp install --api-key <your fastCRW API key>
Lookup by OSM ids
Use OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim) from fastCRW Pergamon, capability "Lookup by OSM ids" (lookup). You already hold OpenStreetMap node, way or relation ids and need their details in one call. Example options: osm_ids=R146656, extratags=0, namedetails=0. Use the crw MCP tools: crw_find_data to confirm the source and its options, then crw_get_data with provider "nominatim" and capability "lookup". Tell me the credits used and cite the licence from the response. If the crw MCP tools are missing, install them with: npx -y crw-mcp install --api-key <your fastCRW API key>
Reverse geocoding
Use OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim) from fastCRW Pergamon, capability "Reverse geocoding" (reverse). You have coordinates and need the address or place name at that point. Example options: lat=52.52, lon=13.405, zoom=18. Use the crw MCP tools: crw_find_data to confirm the source and its options, then crw_get_data with provider "nominatim" and capability "reverse". Tell me the credits used and cite the licence from the response. If the crw MCP tools are missing, install them with: npx -y crw-mcp install --api-key <your fastCRW API key>
Forward geocoding search
Use OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim) from fastCRW Pergamon, capability "Forward geocoding search" (search). You have a place name or address text and need coordinates or OSM identifiers. Example options: q=Berlin, limit=5, countrycodes=de. Use the crw MCP tools: crw_find_data to confirm the source and its options, then crw_get_data with provider "nominatim" and capability "search". Tell me the credits used and cite the licence from the response. If the crw MCP tools are missing, install them with: npx -y crw-mcp install --api-key <your fastCRW API key>
