Scope: every capability here is served from an MSL-published MSDI framework service on MSL's own ArcGIS server (cadastral, PLSS, administrative boundaries, geographic names, hydrography, watersheds, soils, structures, transportation, land cover, wetlands, mapping control, plus the MSL and MSDI_Framework folders). The carve-out names the Montana History Portal and the GIS Data List, which is a separate catalogue outside organisations publish into as "Data List Publishers"; nothing here comes from either. The underlying sources (Montana Department of Revenue, Montana counties, USGS NHD/GNIS, NRCS SSURGO, USDA NAIP) are themselves US federal or Montana state government. A capability from the State Historic Preservation Office service in the HIS folder was dropped rather than assume this statement covers another institution's cultural-resource data.
