This includes students who are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason; are living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodations; are living in emergency or transitional shelters; are abandoned in hospitals; or are awaiting foster care placement; who have a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings; who are living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar settings; and migratory children. \nThe homeless student rate is not calculated or reported by DESE. Instead, a rate has been calculated for the purpose of ImpactSTLCO using the district homeless counts and student enrollment data for each academic year. The rate should be understood as a point-in-time estimate as student enrollment does not include transfer numbers for the school year.\n\nHomeless Students Per 10,000 Students is calculated as:\n(Homeless Students Count/Student Enrollment) x 10,000.",

Data is collected, maintained and published by the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (HSS). Information on each birth and the mothers is gathered from birth certificates. HSS only reports the number of live births along with other health, social and demographic variables through the Missouri Information for Community Assessment (MICA) system. Rates of live births is calculated using both MICA and U.S. Census population estimates. The population estimates are organized by ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTA). In very rare instances do the ZCTAs not consistently overlap with the postal ZIP Code areas.\n\nLive Births Per 1,000 Teen Girls for a specified time period is calculated as:\n(# Live Births to Girls Ages 10-19/Total Population of Girls Ages 10-19) x 1,000.",

"description": "This dataset includes estimates of school enrollment and employment status for persons ages 16-19. Employed and unemployed are defined by the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey as following.\r\n\r\nEmployed – This category includes all civilians 16 years old and over who either (1) were “at work,” that is, those who did any work at all during the reference week as paid employees, worked in their own business or profession, worked on their own farm, or worked 15 hours or more as unpaid workers on a family farm or in a family business; or (2) were “with a job but not at work,” that is, those who did not work during the reference week but had jobs or businesses from which they were temporarily absent due to illness, bad weather, industrial dispute, vacation, or other personal reasons.
