USGS Water Services
GeoUSwaterservices.usgs.gov
US streamflow, gage height and groundwater readings from the National Water Information System, live and historical.
Capabilities (8)
GET /v1/data/usgswater/continuous1 creditReturns individual continuous (sensor) observations for a monitoring location as GeoJSON features with time, parameter code, value, unit, qualifier and approval status.
GET /v1/data/usgswater/daily1 creditReturns the daily-statistic time series for a gauge - usually daily mean discharge - as a WaterML-in-JSON timeSeries document.
GET /v1/data/usgswater/fieldmeasurements1 creditReturns discrete field visit measurements for a site as GeoJSON - manual discharge and stage readings taken by a hydrographer, with measurement quality rating and the party that took it.
GET /v1/data/usgswater/instantaneous1 creditReturns the real-time sensor time series for a gauge - typically 15-minute discharge, gage height or temperature - as a WaterML-in-JSON timeSeries document with values, timestamps and qualifier codes.
GET /v1/data/usgswater/latest1 creditReturns the most recent value of every continuous time series at one monitoring location as GeoJSON, each feature carrying parameter code, statistic, value, unit, timestamp and approval status.
GET /v1/data/usgswater/parametercodes1 creditReturns the USGS parameter code dictionary - code, parameter name, unit of measure, group and full description - as GeoJSON features.
GET /v1/data/usgswater/peaks1 creditReturns the annual peak streamflow and peak gage height record for a site as GeoJSON, one feature per water year, which is the basis for flood-frequency work.
GET /v1/data/usgswater/sites1 creditReturns USGS monitoring locations as GeoJSON features with site number, name, agency, coordinates, site type, state and county, altitude, drainage area and hydrologic unit.
