The Met's collection: 470,000-plus objects with artist, date, medium, dimensions and open-access images.
Capabilities (6)
GET /v1/data/metmuseum/all-objects1 creditReturns the objectID of every item the v1 list endpoint knows about - 502,993 ids in one 3.4 MB response, with a total count and no paging. Note this is ~33,500 fewer than the 536,522 the v1.1 search index reports; the two backends disagree.
GET /v1/data/metmuseum/department-objects1 creditReturns every objectID held by one or more departments in a single response, with a total count - no paging and no truncation, so a department of 37,000 works comes back whole.
GET /v1/data/metmuseum/departments1 creditReturns all 19 curatorial departments as departmentId and displayName pairs, from American Decorative Arts (1) to Modern Art (21).
GET /v1/data/metmuseum/object1 creditReturns the complete catalogue record for one object: 57 fields including title, artist with nationality and ULAN/Wikidata URLs, date, medium, dimensions, credit line, provenance geography, classification, subject tags, gallery number, public-domain flag and full-resolution primary and additional image URLs.
GET /v1/data/metmuseum/search1 creditSearches the collection by keyword and/or structured filters (department, highlight, on-view, medium, geography, creation-year window) and returns a total hit count plus a page of matching objectIDs; the ids must then be resolved one at a time through the object capability. With no parameters at all it pages through the whole 536,522-object index.
GET /v1/data/metmuseum/updated-objects1 creditReturns the objectIDs of every record whose metadata changed on or after a given date, with a total count - roughly 9,000 for the last three weeks and 93,000 for the year to date.
